1953 Triumph TR2

1953 Triumph TR2

The Triumph TR2 is the foundational model of the legendary TR sports car series, produced between 1953 and 1955 by the Standard Motor Company.  It was born out of a rapid redesign of the unsuccessful 20TS prototype, with development focused on creating a rugged, high-performance roadster that could outpace the MG T-series while remaining more affordable than a Jaguar XK120.

Its significance was cemented early on by the "Jabbeke" speed run in Belgium, where a modified TR2 reached nearly 125 mph, proving it was a legitimate 100-mph production car.  Powered by a 1,991cc version of the Standard Vanguard inline-four engine producing 90 bhp, the TR2 also earned a formidable reputation in international competition, including successes at the RAC Rally and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Throughout its short production run, a total of 8,636 units were manufactured before it was succeeded by the TR3.

Don't settle for wire wheels offered by other brands.  The design and look of these wheels are directly from the molds and designs of the original Dunlop wire wheels.  Never settle for "close enough".  British cars deserve British Wire Wheels.
