1955 Swallow Doretti Roadster

1955 Swallow Doretti Roadster

The Swallow Doretti was a stylish British sports car produced between 1954 and 1955 by the Swallow Coachbuilding Company, a firm with deep historical ties to the origins of Jaguar.  Built on a widened Triumph TR2 chassis and utilizing its 2.0-liter powertrain, the Doretti was distinguished by its premium construction, featuring a double-skinned aluminum body over a specialized tubular steel frame.

Its significance lies in its positioning as a more refined, luxurious alternative to the rugged TR2, specifically targeting the post-war American appetite for European roadsters. Despite its aesthetic appeal and solid performance, production was cut short after only 276 units. The car’s demise was famously political: Swallow’s parent company, Tube Investments, halted production to avoid competing with the very car manufacturers who were their primary customers for raw materials.

Don't settle for wire wheels offered by other brands.  The design and look of these wheels are directly from the molds and designs of the original Dunlop wire wheels.  Never settle for "close enough".  British cars deserve British Wire Wheels.
